It has been a bit of a roller coaster of a last few months between battling my depression, my 30th birthday and my granddad passing just this Saturday passed its been up and down my head as you can imagine has been up my rear end.

so whats happened on the wargaing front,
well for my 30th birthday we played The Chicago way by Great Escape Games basically the same rules as dead mans hand new gangs and new playing cards and rules for driving which was a bit hard to get your head around at first.

complete forgot to take pictures for this one. sorry guys
apparently I did well for running my first game it fried my head something rotten but it was good fun.

I have also spent a week building my Wild west city/town

The buildings are foam board covered in balas wood ideas all come form the Terrian tutor form youtube.

so my projects that i am on with currently the new necrounda and andys romans all which have to be done by end of this month i think give me a time scale best get cracking

After a quick look at the table The Sapper decides to shoot off and grab some more terrain from other company.
Are table after The Sapper went and got some new bits.

Here is the lads demoing a game sadly the crusaders got it handed to them in all 3 games they played due to having a hard army to use.

What else was on at the show

this one stands out for me as its a 40mm game

curse of dead mans hand by great escape games.

Wargames shows and tournments preperation to do and not to do

We all do it, get excited and happy to go to the next show and spend some money on some new "must have" army bits or get ready for the tournament next month.

Things I have well and truly learned the hard way.

Do make sure your army is ready and that you do not leave it in the house.
I have to turn back hath way in to a hour and hath drive.
I am guilty twice of this.

Don't super glue your phone to your hand, while repairing models the night before or for that matter of fact don't do this scenario again a month latter and glue your hand to your manhood.
A&E couldn't keep a straight face for this one (lesson learned no superglue after 1am)

Do sort out a pack up lunch and drink.
You will find the local rat burger stand robs you about 7,50 a burger.... yeah had that one happen.

Make sure you got every thing you need for the show/tournament.

This organiser cost me £8 form BnQ, In there I have loads of D6, my bolt action dice some other dice scatter d3 to d20.
Pin markers, some tokens, MDF objective makers and other bits oh and two tape mesers cos some one all ways needs one

Am currently getting ready for a war games show in newer the other partisan.
were we will be demonstrating a crusdes game of lion rampent.

The Demon and The mountain

One of the biggest issues I have as a wargamer is that I suffer With depression which I call my Demon just like Churchill called his his black dog.

So this gets me down when I have bad months which are due to start as my little version of depression is called seasonal affliction disorder (SAD) yeah I laughter at the acronym to one of the things that stopped me killing my self at the time as I was that low and I get that low every winter.

I am on anti-depressants the Americans call them Zoloft Sertraline over in the UK.

So how does this stop me with my war games stuff, well around this time of year I lose interested in my hobby's so I lose interested in painting in war gaming and take losses a lot harder then I should.
Now a days I know its the depression, so I throw it in my book, on pen and paper and I deal with it,ignore it or move on.

For the record dealing with it and moving on two different things for me.

So things that get me down are like; having a massive mount of unfinished models that I have no interest in finishing so for example my DAK which I got off a friend of mine a while ago, there are still on the shelf just needing touch ups so guns finishing and bits on the webbing. Its a two day paint job and the army will be finished paint wise and then all I have  to do is base it.

Also with this time is when I finish a project I still get an endorphin release when I finally finish a project, how ever its not potent as it would be say the middle of spring.

Today I have finished some tokens from warbases that are a deck of cards cos its easier then having playing cards on the table.
I started these in July

Its only now in august that they are finished.

Now maybe I am being to hard on myself about how long its taken me to do these and I do have decks of cards at home as well, but its just one of those things that I have realised gets me down and picks me up.

Mental health, what a balls ache but here we are talking about it I have some 28mm gangster to finish on my desk I have three models left to finish. and it wasn't till tonight that I realised that either. trouble with depression is you become very narrow sighted and once you open your eyes you start to help your self.

So unfinished projects on the go I have a few,
but my next one to finish is my 15mm undead, and then I am going to patch up my 10mm crusaders.

dead mans hand

so the other week we played dead mans hand at a mates I played with Alvin and Stu who have both given permission for photos of them self to go up online.

So we played curse of dead mans hand which is the new rule book.
a year ago we played a zombie gaming using the dead man's hand rules and came up with simmiler ideas as the author of this game great minds think alike.

So the town of knob creek was all ready sorted out when we got to stuarts we have the town and then "badlands" also know as real estate to buy when we have more terrian.

So we set are men up against the mighty lord of death also know as Alvin "all thou i think his days as a chipmunk are over"
we made a barracked and put shotgun granny on it (shes hard)
the undead raised on the edge of the world ready to eat the town
card were delt and we were off

 the evil bear is evil

the barracaeds were being swarmed shotgun granny was successfully sticking it to them.

Elvis vs zombie rob Orbison Elvis died in the toilet agien

so review of the game.

when we play these games we try to have a large sense of hormor about this game as the game is very hollywood you can just say i want to do this and as long you all agree you do it so you want to clime to the roof of the town hall if its with in your movement you can do it.

we had a blast and all thou all my gang died horribly I really enjoyed my self.
Stu adventaly won by killing the baron which is the undead master of the new book.

I personally found the game a night mare to kill zombies cos of the d20 roll to kill system.
it was just pure luck that we managed to kill the baron on a natural 20.
over all i did enjoy it. my advice for this game is aim fire move back the +1 to a d20 roll dosent do much but its better then a kick in the teeth.

the town consistes of MDF buildings form various company's modle railway stuff and some scratch built stuff.
